WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- BOX 313 was transmitted to 214 Stone Quarry Road for the reported building on
fire. LCWC gave first responding units the update of a working shed fire with exposures to a House with the
siding starting to melt from the heat. Deputy 313 was the first command officer to give a report of Heavy
smoke showing from 1 mile out. Moments later Traffic 313 arrived on scene reporting heavy fire showing
from the shed with exposure problems. Engine 313-1 arrived and deployed two 1.75' water lines and went to
work as command requested add'l Tankers to the scene. Ladder 24 went to work opening up the shed roof
and started pulling apart the shed as the Engine company darkened the fire. Units remained on the scene
for about 1 hour.

PITTSBURGH, PA -- Shortly after noon on February 1st, City of Pittsburgh 911 received several phone calls
reporting a house on fire on Dresden Way near 53rd Street in the city’s Lawrenceville section of the city.
The first arriving fire units found a 2 ½ story, 4 unit row house with heavy smoke pouring from the upper
floors of one of the units and a 2nd alarm was soon requested. The fire quickly spread through all 4 units as
firefighters struggled to contain the fire in frigid cold conditions. It took several hours, and a total of 5
alarms to finally control the fire. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for minor burns to his face
and was later released. Officials say the fire appears to have started on the 2nd floor of a vacant unit and
quickly spread to the adjoining homes through a common roof. Investigators are still investigating the
cause of the fire but do say the fire appears to be suspicious. Several families, who lived in the adjoining
homes were displaced. The American Red Cross is now helping those families.

LINDENWOLD, NJ -- The BOX was transmitted to 101 Gibbsboro Road @ the Green Tree Apartments for the
reported building fire. Companies arrived with a 2 story garden style apartment building with heavy smoke
showing from the number 2 Division. Units got word of possible entrapment of one victim, Companies went
to work as command transmitted the 2nd Alarm. Command quickly evacuated the building as fire went
through the roof, all companies went heavy duty to control the fire. Companies remained on the scene for

QUEENS,NY -- Box 99-33-1045 was transmitted for 1056 Neilson St at Cornaga Ave for the building fire. First
arriving engine reported he had a confirmed fire and transmitted the "10-75". As crews began stretching in,
Cmd (Division 13) reported he had an active fire on the 5th floor of a 7 story, brick Omd. Two lines were
initially stretched as crews began the primary search. Ems was requested for 2 10-45 code 3’s (non life
threatening injuries to civilians) Within minutes the assignment was upgraded to "all hands" and 2 minutes
later, Batt 47 transmitted the 2nd alarm. As the fire grew and extended into the cockloft area, a 3rd alarm
was requested, as Cmd reported now heavy fire overhead on the 6th floor. Shortly after the 3rd was
requested, Div-13 reported firefighters trapped on the top floor, and special called 2 additional truck above
the 3rd alarm as the RIT was put in service. A role call was made and all firefighters were accounted for as
Batt-47 called for the 4th alarm. He reported heavy fire conditions on the upper floors and was setting up
tower ladders to go to defensive mode. Due to weather conditions and still no progress on the fire, Car-4
(Division Chief McNally) arrived on scene and requested the 5th and 6th alarms and a special call for
rescue-2 to assist Rescue-5 in their search of apartments. At 0306am, Car-4 reported all hands still working
with 3 tower ladders up and flowing large caliber pipes, crews standing fast with the fire darkening down,

MARTIC TOWNSHIP, PA -- BOX 58 was transmitted to the area of the 500 Block of Martic Heights Drive for
the reported PIC w/Ejection. Chief 58 arrived O/S moments later reporting one sports car Overturned with
one patient ejected. Command requested Aero-Medical fly direct for the driver that was ejected. During the
incident a fight broke out between the first in Engine Company and some victims involved in the crash.

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, PA - Shortly after 6pm on February 4th, Scott Township firefighters were dispatched to
The Carriage Park Apartments located on Chatham Park Drive for a kitchen fire located on the 6th floor of
500 Camelot Court. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke conditions on the 6th floor and from the
exterior of the building. Once firefighters safely evacuated residents from the apartments, they attempted
to make an interior attack but were forced back because of the intense heat and smoke. Fire began to pour
out of the 6th floor apartment and an aerial was set up to perform an exterior attack so that firefighters may
enter the apartment. Interior crews on the 7th floor reported heavy smoke and high heat conditions and a
2nd alarm was requested. The exterior attack was successful and interior crews quickly got a good knock
down of the rest of the fire in the apartment. Firefighters stayed on scene for several hours extinguishing
hot spots and ventilating the rest of the building. Several apartments were heavily damaged and displaced
several more residents due to smoke and water damage. The American Red Cross is helping those who
were displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
This is the second fire in less than a week on Chatham Park Drive, the first ripped through a condominium
style apartment building causing millions of dollars in damage. That fire occurred on January 29th. Both
fires were fought in frigid conditions, this time in temperatures in the single digits.

PITTSBURGH, PA -- Around 2am on February 5th, 2007, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were alerted to a
structure fire located in the area of South 18th Street and Saint Patrick Street in the South Side area of the
city. The battalion chief for that particular fire zone reported to city dispatch that as he approached the
area, there was a haze in the area and city dispatch notified him they now were receiving multiple calls. He
arrived on scene moments later and confirmed a fully involved structure fire located on Saint Patrick Street
in a 3 ½ story wood frame home with and exposure problem on side B. The first arriving firefighters set up a
defensive attack and began to protect the exposure. Shortly after the first alarm assignment arrived, a 2nd
alarm was requested. Firefighters battled this stubborn fire for several hours in below 0 temperatures. The
fire was brought under control nearly 2 ½ hours later. Firefighters stayed on scene well into the morning
extinguishing hot spots and the long process of trying to clean up thousands of feet of frozen hose. There
is no word on what caused the fire, but the home was occupied by several families who all made it out
safely. The families are now being assisted by the American Red Cross. One firefighter was transported to a
local hospital for a hand injury. There is no word on his condition but it appears it was a minor injury.

House Well Off On Arrival, Allegheny County, PA 02.05.2007

CHERRY HILL, NJ -- At 3:30 AM the Cherry hill Fire Department was dispatched to 800 Springdale Road for a
report of a dwelling fire. First due Ladder 1344 arrived on location to find heavy fire in the living room of a
dwelling that sits off the roadway some 200 feet. Engine 1331 arrived and laid a 4" supply line. Squad 13
went in operation with additional. The all hands box was transmitted, with this Engine 1322 and Ladder 1324
were added. Engine 1322 was assigned water supply, while 1324 entered the main drive way to set up for
what was now a defensive operation. At the height of the fire several elevated master streams and
numerous 2 1/2 " were in operation. There were no reports on injuries. The Cherry Hill Fire Marshals Office
and the Camden County Fire Marshals Office are investigating for the origin and cause of the fire.

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, PA -- BOX 57 was transmitted to the area of Route 472 and Noble Road for the
reported PIC w/Entrapment. Rescue Squad 57 was on the road with in minutes with updated information of
one person trapped. While en route RS 57 requested Aero-Medical be placed on stand by due to the ETA of
the Medic unit coming. Rescue Squad 57 arrived with a 2 Vehicle PIC with one confirmed trapped in a small
four door car, crews went to work to extricate the patient as EMS was still en route to the scene. Command
later recalled aero medical and transported both patients via-ground ambulance.

NORTH BRADDOCK, PA -- Shortly after 2pm on February 8th, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire
located on North Avenue in North Braddock. Firefighters began to attack the fire but the flames soon
quickly devoured the 2 story apartment building leaving as many as 10 people homeless. At least 6 fire
companies stayed on scene for several hours trying to extinguish the remains of the building. One
firefighters was injured and transported to a local hospital but only suffered minor injuries. There is no
word on what cause the fire and the American Red Cross is helping those families displaced by the fire.

AVALON BOROUGH, PA -- In the early morning hours of February 9th, just before 3am, firefighters were
alerted to a residential structure fire located in the 800 block of Ohio River Boulevard in Avalon Borough.
The police arrived on scene and reported a working structure fire in a 3 story wood frame home and that all
the occupants were out of the building. At least 15 fire companies were called in to assist due to the cold
weather and problems with freezing water supplies. Fire crews spent several hours on the scene, which
shut down the 4 lane road and caused havoc for rush hour traffic. The home was a total loss and there was
no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

CITY OF PITTSBURGH, PA -- At 4am on February 9th, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were dispatched to 116
Nobles Lane in the Carrick section of the city for a residential structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a
fully involved vacant wood frame house fully involved. 11 minutes after the initial dispatch, a 2nd alarm was
requested due to frigid conditions and exposure problems. Around 4:20am, the entire structure collapsed
and a 3rd alarm was requested. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control at 5:46, just over an
hour and 45 minutes after the initial dispatch. A fire watch was set up and crews spent most of the day on
the scene dousing hot spots. There is no word on what cause the fire. Two other homes did suffer damage
due to the fire. There were no reported injuries

DELRAN, NJ -- BOX 232 was transmitted At approx. 1010 hrs units from Delran and Riverside Fire/EMS were
dispatched to 1 Alden Ave. for a reported building fire. First arriving units found an auto garage with fire
showing throughout. All companies were placed in service, this added units from Cinnaminson and
Riverton to the call. While companies were attacking the fire, the fire had spread through the fence to an
exposure building behind the original fire building. Units from Cinnaminson and Riverton worked to control
this fire. After about an hour of work on both fires the incident was placed under control and no injuries

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- At 1246 hours, Prince George's
County Rescue Squad 14 and Ambulance 148 were
dispatched to Baltimore Avenue and Cherry Hill Road for
the personal injury accident. First arriving units
advised they had a two car accident and would need a
door popped to remove one patient. Rescue Squad 14
with 8 volunteers arrived on the scene, and quickly
stabilized the car and removed the door to provide
patient access. The squad crew assisted Ambulance 148
with loading the patient onto a backboard and the
patient was transported to a local trauma center.
Rescue Squad 14 was ready for service at 1300 hours.

CITY OF PITTSBURGH, PA -- On February 11th, around 6am, city firefighters were dispatched to Stanton
Avenue in the Stanton Heights section of the city for a possible structure fire inside and occupied
apartment building. The caller stated that their wall had caught fire from a burning candle and was
attempting to get everyone out of the building. Firefighters arrived to find a 3 story apartment building with
smoke coming of the front entrance. There were numerous reports of people being trapped in their
apartments, but firefighters managed to get everyone out of the building safely. Firefighters quickly
knocked down the fire in the apartment, but a heavy smoke condition remained through out the building.
There were no reported injuries and no official word on what sparked the blaze. A few minutes after this fire
was dispatched, firefighters were dispatched to another structure fire in the Carrick section of the city
which ended up growing to 4 alarms.

CITY OF PITTSBURGH, PA -- On February 11th, while city firefighters were responding to a working fire
inside an apartment building in the Stanton Heights section of the city, a second structure fire was
dispatched at 6:10am, this time in the Carrick section of the city. City dispatch reported they were receiving
multiple calls of a large business on fire located on Brownsville Road. Firefighters arrived to find a large 1
story vacant commercial structure with heavy fire conditions. Firefighters attempted to gain entry and make
an interior attack, however fierce flames and heat held them back and soon after they were ordered to
evacuate the structure. The fire quickly turned into 3 alarms and finally a 4th alarm was called. Firefighters
struggled in the frigid single digit temperatures to bring the fire under control. Multiple large diameter
hose streams, both from the ground and air were set up and several hose streams were put into place to
protect an exposure. Thick black smoke filled the early morning air before the fire was finally brought under
control at 10:26am, just over 4 hours before the initial alarm. There was no reported injuries and fire
investigators were on the scene trying to determine what caused this massive fire.

2nd Fire Of The Day Goes To 4 Alarms, Allegheny County, PA 02.11.2007

HONEY BROOK TOWNSHIP, PA -- BOX 33-01 was transmitted to 450 Pequea Avenue @ Kerns hardware for
the Automatic Fire alarm, seconds later Chester County Communications started getting multiple calls of a
working building fire. D/C 33 arrived O/S with heavy smoke showing from the large hardware store and
transmitted the working fire dispatch. Engine 33-1 arrived shortly afterwards and deployed hand lines to the
building and found Heavy fire and smoke banked down to the floor, and exterior attack was then ordered.
Companies reported heavy fire in the loft and roof area. Ladder 69 made an aggressive attack on venting
the front of the building. Command requested multiple upgrades with M/A coming from Lancaster and Berks
County. After multiple hydrants failed to produce water supply, a tanker task force was established. At the
days end, 21 tankers responded. Mutual aid from three different counties helped in the fight against the

DEPTFORD, NJ -- Fire crews were dispatched to 1070 Delsea Drive in Deptford around 2 am for a reported
building fire on February 12, 2007. Police called in to dispatch reporting flames and smoke coming from the
Franks Pizza Shop in the Delsea Plaza, Command arrived and reported a 1 story commercial 250x75 strip
mall with heavy smoke and fire from the pizza shop. Command struck the all hands on arrival. Crews
arrived and stretched lines to the B and D exposures. The 2nd alarm was transmitted shortly after. The
Truck Company arrived and went to the roof to vent the building. 30 minutes into the job, Command
reported fire in 3 of the 8 units, and it was through the roof at that time. Around the 1 hour mark the 3rd
alarm was transmitted for heavy fire conditions. Command reported multiple 2 Tower Ladders in operation
as well as multiple handlines from the exterior. 20 minutes later the 4th alarm was transmitted for additional
resources.Command reported heavy fire conditions still existing in the main fire building being fed by a
broken gas line. PSEG was called for the problem. The fire was placed under control around the 2 hour
mark into the job. Sand trucks were called for ice conditions. The fire was believed to of originated in the
Franks Pizza Shop and spread to the Speed Queen Laundromat as well as a nail salon. Four other business
were damaged as well. None of the businesses were open at the time of the blaze. No injuries were
reported. The fire is under investigation by Gloucester County Fire Marshals and the Deptford Township

PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, MD -- BOX 28 was transmitted to the 5900 Block Of 87th Avenue for the reported
fish tank on fire inside the house. Units arrived with heavy fire showing from the House, Companies quickly
knocked down the fire. Companies reported one room off with extension to the Alpha side of the house.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- At 5:15 hours Philadelphia Firefighters were dispatched to the 1900 block of Ingersoll
St. for a reported dwelling fire with people trapped on February 12, 2007. Battalion 3 arrived and reported a
2 story middle of the row dwelling with heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor at 1909 Ingersoll Street . The
first arriving Engine went in operation with a 1.75” hanline as the Ladder Company went in operation with
searches. Rit 3 was added to the box. The all hands was sounded as all companies went to work. 3
additional Medic Units were added as well. Firefighters made 4 rescues of occupants still inside the house.
A total of 12 occupants lived in the dwelling, 8 were home at the time of the blaze and 4 made it out without
injury. All 4 rescued occupants were in serious condition. The 74 year old female was pronounced dead at
Temple University Hospital . The two male handicapped occupants were transported and listed in critical
condition. The other female was transported and listed in serious condition. The fire was placed under
control approx 17 minutes after being reported. The Philadelphia Fire Department stated the house had
illegal wiring throughout. Neighbors stated the electrical service had been shut off for some time, and the
family was doing what they could to stay warm. Firefighters described the interior as a maze of electrical
cords and space heaters. A power line had been strung from a house next door. The Fire Department also
stated there was a smoke detector in the dwelling, but it was not equipped with a battery. The fire is under
investigation by the Philadelphia Fire Department but stated it was most likely electrical. There have been a

FERMANAGH TOWNSHIP, PA -- Crews were dispatched @ 0945 on 02.12.07 to Box 2-01 for an MVA
w/entrapment. LT 21 o/s with 1 vehicle into a tree, 1 pt heavily entraped. Mifflintown Rescue 29 responded
with 3 including Capt21, who immediately requested Thompsontown Rescue 89 and an additional engine
company. Rescue 29 arrived o/s in 2 minutes, immediately stabalized and began extrication. Driver's side
front & rear doors and "B" post removed, along with total roof removal. Port Royal's Engine 12-1 was called
to the Mifflintown Airport to establish LZ for Life Lion. Pt. was extricated in 21 minutes and transported to LZ

PHILADELPHIA , PA- Fire, EMS and Police units were called to the intersection of 21st and Stenton for a
reported vehicle into a house at 1250 hours on February 12, 2007. Battalion 2 arrived and reported a
vehicle completely inside a house with the driver heavily trapped at 2045 Stenton Street . Squad 72 and
Engine 51 went in operation with the tools to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the trapped victim. Engine
29 was special called as well as the Collapse Rescue Unit. The victim was extricated around the 15 minute
mark. Medic 10 transported the injured victim to Einstein Hospital. It was reported the driver had suffered
a seizure which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, hit a small hill on the side of the dwelling. The
vehicle then became air born and crashed into the dwelling. The occupants were home at the time of crash
but were not in that section of the house and were not injured. The home owners described the crash as
an explosion with glass flying. The homeowners also reported they did not have insurance on their

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Fire and EMS units were dispatched to 1212 Cedar Ave at 12:58am on February 13, 2007
for a dwelling with a report of people trapped. Police arrived on location and confirmed a working fire.
Police also made 2 rescues of the occupants and pulled them from the dwelling. First arriving units arriving
found a 1 story single family dwelling with heavy fire and smoke showing. Crews stretched lines and
performed searches. Crews battled flames in the A/B corner of the dwelling as well as the basement. EMS
arrived and started treating 2 severely burned occupants on the front lawn. Additional ALS and BLS were
dispatched. Both fire victims were transported by air. South Star and Jeffstat transported the victims to the
Burn Treatment Center at Crozer- Chester Medical Center in Upland Pa. A juvenile was also treated and
transported by ground to a near by hospital. The fire was placed under control at 01:41 hours. One
firefighter injury was reported. The fire is under investigation by the Gloucester County Fire Marshals
