PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Tuesday July 1st, The Rescue Local was transmitted to the area of 2131
Beaver Valley Pike for the reported PIC with people trapped. Lancaster County Communications advised
units enroute of a 2 vehicle crash with one over turned and people reported still inside. Companies went to
work on arrival finding one vehicle on its roof and another in a corn field. EMS transported patients from the

PERRY TOWNSHIP, PA -- The Berks county 911 center started receiving calls for reported explosion and fire
at 1223 Pottsville Pike in Perry Township at A and K Auto Sales. While units were marking up on the radio
units knew it was going to be a major fire due to the large column of dark black smoke which was visible
from several miles away. Command started calling m/a which would go as far as 3rd alarm. Units from Berks
County and Schuylkill County would be requested to this fire for both water and relief crews. Extensive
damage was noted to the garage area and office area of the structure.

3 Alarm Building Fire, Berks County, PA 07.01.2008

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, PA -- Around 2245 Hours
on Wednesday July 2nd, The Street
assignment was transmitted to 401 Eden Road,
Building F for the investigation of an odor of
smoke in the apartment building. While Units
from Company 24 were en route,
Communications advised of calls of smoke
showing from apartment #3 in building F and
filled the BOX. Engine 24-1 with Captain
24(Osborne) arrived reporting a working fire
in apartment #3 with smoke showing while
communications filled BOX Alarm 24 bringing
in Companies 67, 211, 23, 63, 27 and 66. Crews
arrived and went quickly to work to contain
the fire to reporting apartment. Crews had the
fire knocked with-in 10 minutes after dispatch.
Crews operated for about 1.5 hours before
going ready.

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- Company 82, Medic 83 and Chester 11 were dispatched to 6th and Madison for the
motor vehicle accident at 1445hrs. While enroute the units were advised by Chester Police that there was a
subject trapped. Companies arrived to find one vehicle in the intersection with damage to the passenger
side (the other vehicle had fled the scene). The crew from Tower 82 removed the passanger door to allow
the medics access to the patient. One subject was transported to Crozer and the companies went available.

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- At 19:15 hours The Chester Fire Department was dispatched to 223 E. 22nd St for the
working house fire. Medic 100 arrived first and had heavy smoke showing from the rear of a 2 story twin.
Chester 11 arrived next instructed the units to go defensive in the main fire building and struck the 2nd
alarm. Chester 11 evacuated the exposure dwelling and placed Tower's 82 and 14 into service along with

VERNON TOWNSHIP, OH -- At 2238 Trumbull Co 9-1-1 received a call for a
garage fire at 4918 Bushnell Campbell Rd - Vernon Twp, the scene of a
violent homicide on June 27, 2008. Box was struck sending Stations 19
(Vernon),29 (Johnston) & 44 (Orangeville) on the 1st alarm. A member of
Station 29 arrived onscene reporting fully involved garage with
exposure to the trailer. Command S/C'd tankers from Station 27
(Hartford) and 33 Kinsman) for additional water resources. Fire was
placed under control at 2313. Fire is under investigation by the Ohio
Fire Marshals Office, Vernon Twp Fire & Trumbull Co SO.

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- Company 82 and Squrt
81 just went off-radio from the 10th and
Upland fire when they were dispatched to
1024 W 2nd Street along with "Task Force 83"
for a building fire. Squrt 81 arrived and had
fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 story
EOR. 2 hand lines were placed in service
while the crews from Tower 82 and "Task
Force 83" ventilated and did primary and
secondary searches. The crews operated for 2
hours.

WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- Around 2256
Hours on July 5th, BOX Alarm 313 was
transmitted to Buchland Road C/S Goldin
Circle for a reported house on fire. Patrol car
88-6 arrived moments later reporting a 2.5
story woodframe dwelling well off with a
vehicle in front of the house. Crews from 313,
12, 115, 35, 15 along with EMS from 210 were
advised of the multiple calls of a working fire
and PD's report. Crew from E313-1 and E12-1
went heavy duty on arrival with heavy fire
showing from the garage and 2nd Floor area.
Crews battled the 1 alarm fire for about 1 hour
before marking it under control. No cause of
the fire or injuries were reported.

House Well Off On Arrival, Lancaster County, PA 07.05.2008

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, PA -- Around 0452
Hours on July 7th, BOX Alarm 21 was
transmitted to 20 East Brubaker Valley Road
for the reported barn on fire. Units from 21
went en route being advised of multiple calls
of a working barn fire, Units from Company 21
arrived shortly afterwords with heavy smoke
showing from a 1 story metal barn. E21-1 went
to work deploying multiple hand lines as
Command transmitted the 2nd Alarm. As the
2nd Alarm was being transmitted, E28-1 was
alerted to set up a tanker fill site at the
Speedwell forge lake boat launch for the
tanker shuttle. Multiple crews from Lancaster
and Lebanon Counties worked for about 1.5
Hours to bring the fire under control.

North Side Keeps Busy With 2A Barn Fire, Lancaster County, PA 07.07.2008

2 Alarm Commercial Building Fire, Delaware County, PA 07.08.2008

EDGEMOUNT, PA -- On Tuesday July 8th, The BOX Alarm was transmitted to 5018 West Chester Pike at Re-Max
for the reported building on fire. Fire board advised Chief 64-9 of multiple calls reporting heavy smoke
showing from the building. 104-7 arrived shortly afterwards reporting heavy smoke and fire showing from a 1
story commercial building, RIT 23 was alerted to the BOX as the working fire dispatch was transmitted.
Command then transmitted the 2nd Alarm early into the incident as all companies went heavy duty. Crews set
up their heaviest lines as the building started to collapse. Companies had the fire marked under control in

CITY OF THOMASVILLE, NC -- The pilot fire dept was dispatched for a 3 car PIC in Thomasville. E-154 arrived
to find one car in a ditch with one patient trapped. The crew of E-154 extricated the patient from the vehicle

One Trapped After PIC, North Carolina, 07.07.2008

GRASONVILLE, MD -- At 19:42 hours the station was alerted for a MVC with entrapment at Perry's Corner Rd.
and Main St. E-26, E-25, Truck 2, and Tanker 2 responded on the call. E-26 arrived at the corrected location of
Perry's Corner Rd. just south of Cabin Creek Rd. with on vehicle on its side with the single patient still
trapped inside. The crews of both engines and the truck went to work extricating the patient. The patient
was extricated in 20 minutes. Tanker 2 secured the landing zone for MSP Trooper 6 at the Grasonville Park.
Units cleared the scene at 20:25 hours. Captain Matt Coursey was Command.

NORTH MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, PA -- On July 12 2008 at 1152 am the Schuylkill County 911 Center Alerted the
Schuylkill Haven Fire Dept along with surrounding area departments for a reported fire at Rest Haven in the
1912 Building. Chief Peel arrived on scene an found outside trash fire with extension into vacant 3 story
large building. Command would request 2nd and 3rd alarm and numerous special calls to this fire bring
volunteers from both Schuylkill County and Berk's County to this fire. Command reported the fire was
contained at 2pm and placed the fire under control at 5 pm. Rest Haven being area nursing home which is
occupied by approx 132 residents was uneffected by the fire and a shelter was available at penn state
university sch campus if needed. The 1912 building was slated for demolition and has not been used in the
past 15 years. No reported injuries was reported and extensive damage was reported to the fire building.

3+ Alarm Apartment Building Fire, Schuylkill County, PA 07.12.2008

DUE WEST, SC -- On July 10, at 1937 Fire Companies were dispatched to a structure fire at the campus of
Erskine College. The first due Engine arrived on scene to determine a working structure fire. The 1st. alarm
units made quick entry, and established a primary water source. After interior officer determined the extent
of the fire and reported to command, he called for the 2nd and 3rd alarm to send manpower, additional water
source, and support services. To keep firefighters on scene ready, a 4th alarm was called for manpower. The
firefighters from Due West Fire and Rescue, Abbeville County Fire, and Anderson County Fire stayed
aggressive and were able to make great progress and contain the fire before destroying the entire building
and exposures around it. Companies had the fire contained within 2.5 hours.

MACON, GA -- On July 14th around 0400Hrs, The BOX was transmitted to 417 Moseley Aveune for a reported
house on fire. Engine 8, Rescue 8, Engine 6, Engine 5, Rescue 5, Truck 31 and Truck 32 arrived to find a
house fully engulfed in flames. Rescue Companies extracted the trapped victims inside the house while

RUSH TOWNSHIP, PA -- On July 18 2008 at approx 1200Hrs, The BOX Alarm was tranmsitted to 130 Lincoln Ave
in Rush Township in the Village of Hometown for initially an AFA and then upgraded to working commercial
structure fire. Command would request 2nd alarm and special calls bringing units from Schuylkill County,
Carbon County and Luzerne County to the scene. Fire was located in a 2 story large commercial property with
fire in the side c/d area and self vented to the roof. Total of 4 firefighters were transported to area hospitals

UPPER LEACOCK TOWNSHIP, PA -- Around 2304Hours, BOX Alarm 410 was transmitted to 2617 Stumptown
Road at Mill Creek MFG for a reported building on fire. Chief 410 Along with Chief 410-2 both reported fire
showing from a distance and transmitted the 2nd Alarm on arrival. Units arrived with a 1 story commercial
woodshop on fire with multiple handlines being deployed on arrival. Command had a tanker fill site and
tanker shuttle set up as crews went heavy duty on the building. Crews had the blaze knocked within 30

2nd Alarm On Arrival, Lancaster County, PA 07.20.2008

HARRISON COUNTY, WV -- At 21:11 hours on Monday July 14th, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Company 12
(Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore VFD/EMS) were alerted for a Signal 6A involving an ATV on
Chub Run Road. Engine 71 (w/5) and Unit 76 (w/3) hit the street less than one minute later and arrived on
scene at 21:18 along with Anmoore VFD/EMS Ambulances 19 and 17 and advised HC911 of an ATV vs. a car
and 2 patients needing transport and requested 2 ALS Ambulances to be dispatched. With the severity of the
head injuries of both patients, it was then decided by EMS crews that they would be flown to WVU Hospital in
Morgantown. At that time, HC911 dispatched Engine 122 (Stonewood VFD) and Engine 12 (Anmoore VFD) to
set up the LZ site at the intersection of Chub Run Road and US Route 20. HealthNet 1 and HealthNet 6 both
landed safely and both patients were airlifted to Morgantown where they are now listed in stable condition.
Crews assisted the Harrison County Sheriffs Department with their accident investigation and returned in
service at 00:30 hours. Also on scene was STVFD Rescue 124, NFFD Squad 7, AVFD/EMS Ambulance 17, and

PARADISE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On July 22nd at 2035 Hours, BOX 510 was transmitted to the Red Caboose Motel
for a reported building on fire. First arriving crews from 510 found smoke banked down to the floor with light
smoke issuing from the converted motel room in the trains caboose. Crews extinguished the room and
contents fire with 1 line from Engine 510-2 and vented the caboose. Crews contained the fire to the contents

WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- On the afternoon of Thursday July 24th, BOX Alarm 313 was transmitted to 60
Eagle Drive in the Township for the reported house on fire. Companies on the first alarm assignment were
advised of multiple calls of a working kitchen fire inside the residence and smoke showing from a house. D/C
12(Leisey) arrived on scene confirming a working fire with smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story wood frame
single family dwelling. Engine 12-1 and 313-1 arrived on Eagle Drive deploying hand lines on arrival to make
quick work of the fire in the kitchen area. Crews from 313, 12 and 115 remained on scene checking for
extension as the balance of the first alarm was placed in service.

Another Fire For The North Side, Lancaster County, PA 07.24.2008

VERNON TOWNSHIP, PA -- At 1553 Trumbull 9-1-1 Center received a call for a Mobile Home fire with possible
entrapment at 7944 Jewell Greenville Rd Vernon Twp. Box 1911 was struck dispatching Station 19 (Vernon
Twp.), Station 29 (Johnston Twp.) and Station 44 (Orangeville Village) and S/C for Station 33 (Kinsman Twp.).
At 1557 E-29 and MS-291 responded at which time a heavy column of black smoke was visible, E-29 OIC also
requested Station 73 (West Salem Twp, Mercer Co. Pa) to respond. The location of the fire was less than a
mile from the PA State Line. At 1604 Station 29 Asst EMS Chief arrived on scene confirming a fully involved
mobile home fire, unknown occupants. E-29 & MS-291 arrived on scene at 1609 and went to work with 2 1¾
lines. The crew from T-29 arrived next and did primary search in the remaining part of the mobile home,
which was negative. After pulling the collapsed front part of the mobile home away to gain access, a
secondary search was done of the entire mobile home, which was also negative, the female occupant was
located at 1644 b y the Co. Sheriff sleeping at a pond on the large property. Companies operated on scene
for 2½ hrs for clean up and hot spot patrol, scene was turned over to the fire investigator from the Vernon

Working Mobile Home w/Reported People Trapped, Trumbull County, OH 07.16.2008

NUTTER FORT, WV- At 9:19 a.m. on Wednesday July 23rd, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121
(Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a smoke investigation at 427 Buckhannon
Pike at Mother Goose Land Child Care Center. Engine 71 (w/5) and Engine 72 (w/5) hit the street 1 minute
later and arrived on scene shortly after with nothing apparent. It appeared that from an unknown source was
producing smoke and filling the building with smoke. With SCBA's dawned and Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC)
in hand, crews began to search for the source. At that time with the amount of manpower on scene, Deputy
Chief 7 held the box to Co. 7 units and returned STVFD and AVFD E12. Crews began searching above the
ceiling tiles inside while Engine 72 laddered the outside of the structure to check the roof. After
investigating the structure thoroughly, the problem was discovered to be an overheated AC Unit on the roof.
A repair man was called and the problem was corrected. Crews made sure the building was safe before
children and teachers could be let back inside. After everything was given the ok crews went ready at 10:00
a.m. About an hour later NFFD was alerted to assist Co. 15 (West Milford VFD) with a Structure Fire on Rt. 19.
Engine 71, Tanker 7, and Squad 7 responded but T7 and S7 were returned enroute due to it being a small
electrical fire already extinguished. 71 was on scene a short time checking for extension before being
released. While both of these boxes were going on, full crews were standing by back at the station. Just
goes to show what is possible by a strong volunteer staff and excellent leadership. Just another normal day

Overheated A/C Causes Smoke In The Building, Harrison County, WV 07.23.2008

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- At about 10:35hrs Company 82 ("D"PLT.), Chester 11(B/C), Medic 45, & Medic 100
were disp. I-95 South @ Melrose Ave. for the MVA with entrapment. Medic 100-9(Crozer EMS Chief) was first
on scene to find a car overturned off the highway with one trapped. Ladder 82 & Eng 82's crews worked with
the assisted of Rescue 62 (Vauclain of Ridley Twp.) for about 16 mins. to remove the victim. The victim was
transported to Crozer hosp. One F/F received a minor hand injury & was also transported to Crozer. Eng 82

MT. CLARE, WV-- At 04:35 AM Company 5 (Mt. Clare VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11
(Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Hutchinson Hollow Road in Mt. Clare. Upon receiving the
size up from HC911, Lt. 5 requested that Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) be added to the assignment. MCVFD
Engine 52 (w/3) and Unit 55 (w/2) arrived on scene at 04:44 and advised HC911 of a double wide mobile home
fully involved and pulled 2 1 ¾ cross lays and began a defensive attack. Engine 71 (w/6) was the 2nd due
engine and was advised to pull a 1 ¾ cross lay and to supply E52 with water. Engine 11 (w/5) and STVFD E121
(w/4) arrived on scene and were advised to send their manpower to the scene and supply 52 and 71 with
water. At that time, due to low water supply, Nutter Fort VFD Tanker 7 and Lost Creek VFD Tanker 3 were
alerted. Tanker 7 and Tanker 3 arrived on scene and performed water shuttles until the fire was contained.
Crews were able to bring the blaze under control within an hour and a half and began salvage and overhaul.
Crews returned in service by 07:30. Reynoldsville VFD Engine 81 transferred to Co. 5 during the incident.
