SHARPSBURG BOROUGH, PA -- In the afternoon hours of May 1st, 2007, firefighters from Sharpsburg and
Aspinwall were dispatched to Ryan’s Auto Glass located on Main street in Sharpsburg Borough for a
reported dumpster on fire. Sharpsburg engine arrived on-scene and reported a fully involved dumpster
and began suppression operations. Firefighters soon learned that the dumpster had been filled with left
over roofing material and paints and water was not extinguishing the fire. Sharpsburg command then
requested Parkview VFD from O’Hara Township for their foam engine. Parkview arrived on-scene and the

CITY OF CAMDEN, NJ -- At approx 0100 Hours Camden City Firefighters were alerted to the area next to 611
Bailey street for a reported dwelling fire. Engine Companies 6, 1; Ladders 1, 3; Rescue Co. 1 and Battalion 2
responded. Engine Co. 6 arrived to report a possible exterior rubbish fire and were investigating further.
Battalion 2 then arrived and reported a 2 Story Row Dwelling vacant and also under renovation with fire
showing to the rear. Battalion 2 requested the all Hands which brought Battalion 1 and Engine 11.
Companies attacked the fire with 2 1 3/4 Handlines and Ladder Co.'s performed ventilation. The fire which
appeared to be contained to the rear portion of the home was quickly extinguished. Command reported no
extension to the attached dwelling to the Bravo side and placed the fire under control at 0122 Hours. There

VOORHEES TOWNSHIP, NJ -- At 5am on Wednesday May 2nd 2007, a box was transmitted in Voorhees
Township , for a building fire. Units were dispatched to Burnt Mill Rd. and Somerdale for a fire at the Race
Way Car Wash. Camden County Communications advised units they received a call reporting fire through
the roof. Command, 66-201 arrived and confirmed the report striking the all hands. Crews arrived and
forced entry into the structure. At the 10 minute mark, command still had heavy fire conditions with
handlines in operation. At the 20 minute mark crews still had fire on the Division B side with progress being
made. At the 30 minute mark, Command reported all visible fire was knocked down with crews opening up.
One firefighter was transported to an area hospital from the fireground. Unknown conditions. The fire is

HONEY BROOK TOWNSHIP, PA -- At 9:01 AM, Station 33 (Honey Brook) and 69 (TVFD) for an engine, were hit
out for the reported house on fire, in the area of Conestoga Avenue and Wawassan Drive in Honey Brook
Borough. Just after the dispatch, 33-10 (M. Kern) received a phone call advising it was a working fire.
Chester backed that report up advising the fire board was receiving multiple calls. The working fire
dispatch was requested, bringing Station 69 for the full company. Ladder 69 with a crew of 5 volunteers, and
Engine 33-1 made a fast response. Engine 33-1 went on arrival dropped a supply line at the hydrant, and
confirmed fire showing from the second floor of a two story single family dwelling. Lieutenant 33 (B. Harlan)
took command. Engine 33-1's crew made an aggressive attack on the fire, locating the bulk of the flames in
the 2nd floor bedroom. The firefighters went in service with a 1 3/4" CAFS line, and made a quick knock of
the fire. Ladder 69's crew took the front yard, started ventilation, and set up ground ladders. Engine 33-5
staged on Wawassan, and supplied Engine 33-1. Engine 69-5 made the hydrant connection. Rescue 69
refilled air bottles. The fire was placed under control in just over 20 minutes from the time of dispatch. A
great job to all involved for a quick and efficient stop.

Working House Fire, Chester County, PA 05.02.2007

MILLVALE BOROUGH, PA -- Shortly before midnight on May 2nd, Millvale Station 191, Cherry City Station 260
and Ross/West View Rescue 40 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 28 at the 40th Street
Bridge. A few seconds after being dispatched to the motor vehicle accident, County 911 notified Millvale
VFD that there was a possible structure fire in their district located at the intersection of Grant Avenue and
North Avenue. Millvale fire chief notified County 911 to dispatch the second alarm structure assignment
and to have Ross/West View Rescue 40 respond to the accident. Millvale fire chief then arrived on-scene
and advised County 911 that there was a working fire on the 2nd floor of a 3 story brick apartment building
with possible exposure problems. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire on the 2nd floor but a 3rd
alarm was requested due to the size of the structure and the amount of smoke still pushing from the
building. Fire crews had the fire under control in under an hour and all fire units were cleared in under 2
hours. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.

MONROEVILLE, PA -- On Wednesday, May 2nd, Monroeville Fire Company number 4 and Baskin-Robbins
teamed up for 31 cent scoop night to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. As part of the
event, Baskin-Robbins donated $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. Participating
Baskin-Robbins stores, such as the one in Monroeville, also raised funds for local participating fire
companies who took part in this event. The Monroeville event had a very large turn out with large lines
waiting for the 31 cent scoops of ice cream. Monroeville Fire Company number 4 had members and
apparatus on hand for citizens to look at, children to play on, give-aways for children and also a Dalmatian
mascot to great children. The even took place between 5pm-10pm and was very successful.

Baskin-Robbins Donates To The NFFF, Allegheny County, PA 05.02.2007

WALLACE TOWNSHIP, PA -- At 4:36 AM, the Department, along with Station 89 (Elverson EMS) Ambulance,
and Medic 93 (Brandywine), were dispatched onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike at mile marker 305.3 east
bound, for the reported accident with entrapment. The Chester County Fireboard received numerous calls,
reporting a tour bus into the back of a tractor trailer, with the driver of the tour bus trapped inside. Chief 69
(C. Witkowski) made the response and was advised that the bus was loaded with children and adults, with
multiple injured. The first alarm medical box was struck, adding an additional three ambulances, a medic,
and a MICU to the scene. Two air medical helicopters were also placed on standby. Ambulance 89-1 was first
on the scene. The crew reported subjects climbing out of the bus and patients lying on the ground. Chief 69
arrived shortly after the ambulance and established "Command 69". Command confirmed one subject still
trapped, and requested both helicopters to fly to the scene. Plan "X" was also requested to the turnpike
officials, closing both lanes of travel between the Morgantown & Downingtown Interchanges. After a quick
assessment of the number of subjects injured, and types of injuries suffered, a second alarm medical box
was struck bringing an additional four ambulances and two medics. Rescue 69 arrived and immediately
went into service with extricating the trapped bus driver. Crews worked on a full size tour bus, with very
heavy front end damage. Rescue 69 also set up a command post, and established scene communications. In
all, one patient was flown to a local trauma center, and 35 additional patients were transported by
ambulance to area hospitals. It was determined that the bus was taking students and others from Elizabeth
Forward High School in the Pittsburgh suburb of Elizabeth to the Tournament of Bands Weekend in

FULTON TOWNSHIP, PA -- Rescue BOX 513 was transmitted @ 14:50Hrs. to the area of Robert Fulton Highway
and Goshen Mill Road for the reported PIC w/entrapment involving a tractor trailer. Units arrived with a
Pickup that had heavy passenger side damage with the driver trapped. Crews under the command of Chief
513 went to work to free the patient, Crews displaced the drivers door and flapped the roof of the pick up to
free the driver. EMS transported the patient by ground.

BOWIE, MD -- BOX 39-16 was transmitted around 1620Hrs. To the 7923 Orchard Park Way for the reported
house on fire. Units arrived with heavy smoke & fire showing from the ranch style structure. Command
transmitted the working fire dispatch as crews went to work to battle the ever spreading fire. Heavy fire was
through out the house as ladder companies opened up and went heavy duty. The house was a complete

BOWIE, MD -- BOX 19-07 was transmitted around 1851Hrs. As crews were clearing the 39 BOX on Orchard
Park Way for the reported house fire at 13204 Vanessa Avenue. Crews arrived with a Working house fire with
heavy fire fire showing on arrival. All companies went heavy duty as the fire completely over took the large 2
1/2 story wood frame house. Ladder companies set up their pipes and started master stream operations as
the fire went thru the roof. Companies operated for over an hour to bring the fire under control, no injuries

EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- Rescue BOX 310 was transmitted to the area of Hurst Road @ Grist Mill Road for the
reported hot air balloon down with multiple patients. Units from Martindale & Liberty (New Holland) Fire
Departments with multiple EMS agencies were updated that a total of 6 patients were ejected from the
balloon after it crash landed in a field. Fire & EMS units start care on all patients as command requested
add'l EMS units for victims. All patients were packaged and transported to local trauma centers. The crash is

WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- The Med Local was transmitted to Mentzler Road for the reported child struck
and not responsive. PD arrived on scene and confirmed a 4 Y/O patient was thrown from a small dirt bike
and was (+) L.O.C. Fire & EMS units arrived and started care on the patient as command requested an
Aero-medical unit to fly direct. Command also requested Engine 12-2 (AKRON) for the L/Z, the L/Z was in the
field next to the incident. Penn Star 4 was in bound with a 15 minute ETA as EMS and Fire units treated the
young child. Engine 12-2 set-up the landing zone for Pennstar 4 on the West side of the incident. The child

WEST MIFFLIN BOROUGH, PA -- In the pre-dawn hours of May 5th, firefighters were dispatched to a working
structure fire located on E Drive in Mifflin Estates, an apartment complex located in West Mifflin. Firefighters
arrived to find heavy fire throughout the 3 story apartment building and began an aggressive fire attack but
the fire was too intense to control. Multiple fire departments were called in before the fire was finally under
control. The entire building was destroyed but miraculously no one was injured thanks to smoke detectors
that alerted residents, however several family pets did perish in the fire. 17 families including 13 children
were displaced by the fast moving fire. Fire investigators are still investing the cause of the massive fire.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Around 10:30am on May 5th, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were dispatched to a residential
structure fire located on Colby Street in the Northview Heights section of the city. The first arriving engine
arrived moments later and reported smoke showing from a ranch style home. Firefighters soon learned the
home was vacant and command ordered firefighters begin a defensive attack. An aggressive defensive
attack was initiated while a truck crew began to ventilate the roof. The fire was quickly placed under control
and as soon as conditions were safe, firefighters entered to perform overhaul. There were no reported

PITTSBURGH, PA -- Around 3pm on May 5th, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were dispatched to a possible
structure fire they were receiving multiple calls on located near Butler Street in the Lawrenceville section of
the city. A City of Pittsburgh EMS unit arrived in under a minute and reported a working structure fire located
on Mineral Way, an alley that runs behind Butler Street and also reported fire was already through the roof.
Fire units arrived and made a good knock down of the bulk of the fire. The fire was quickly brought under
control. The fire is now under investigation. There were no reported injuries.

BIRDSBORO BOROUGH, PA -- Around 10:00hrs The Box assignment was dispatched to 420 Beacon Street,
Birdsboro Boro for the reported working building fire. Deputy 7 arrived to find heavy fire from division 2 and
3 of a "L" shaped brick warehouse. Defensive operations were ordered from the start. Fire went to three
alarms, with four truck companies working in the air to knock the fire, which included Tower 70 (Grill) Ladder
1 (Mt. Penn's tiller) Quint 6 (Monacasy) and Tower 2 (Reiffton). All other engine's and tankers operated in a

EPHRATA TOWNSHIP, PA -- Rescue BOX 15 was transmitted to the area of the Route 222 South Bound from
Route 322 ramp for the reported PIC w/one Rolled over. Communications advised PD of multiple injuries and
possible entrapment. Communications alerted Engine Company 15, 2 Basic Units From 112 and Medic's 4 & 3.
Units arrived with one pick up truck that rolled over with (-) Negative entrapment. The Crew from Medic 4
checked all patients and recalled all other EMS units when they refused treatment and transport. All units
